UT Tyler Hosts TCEA High School Programming Contest

Winners
The department of computer science hosted the annual Texas Computer Education Association Area 7 High School Programming Contest February 19 where eight teams from schools in the region competed for trophies, medals and an invitation to the state contest held in April.

The winners are as follows:

Division 1

First Place - Whitehouse: Tom Dobson, Toby Brown, and Max Hayes
Second Place - Whitehouse: Jason McQuigg, Matt Dostal, and Josh Sanders

Division 2

First Place - Lindale: Brandon Buck, Xiaoyun Wang, and J.J. Wulff
Second Place - Center: Aditya Atholi, Shana Andrews, and John Wheller
Third Place - Lindale: Kye Harris, Jonathon McLemore, and Daniel Moore
Fourth Place - Center: Cody Baugh, Kalen Smith, and Luke Lengl
Fifth Place - Center: Jessie Caldwell and Tyler Patterson

The teams attempted to solve 18 problems in three difficulty categories within a two-hour time limit.

Volunteers included Dr. Stephen B. Rainwater, UT Tyler associate professor of computer science, who served as contest director, faculty members Dr. Leonard Brown, Dr. Artur Mikitiuk, and Kay Pleasant as judges and scorers and officers and members of the UT Tyler Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery
