UT Tyler Athletics Finishes Season with Honors
The baseball team won the ASC East pennant, and had the highest overall winning percentage in the conference. If not for NCAA provisional status, they would have played in the ASC tournament for an NCAA bid. The softball team, in their first season, tied for second place. The team won 14 of their last 16 games, and will only lose one senior for next season. In basketball, the women won the ASC East division championship and Coach Terri Dieke was named coach of the year. The men finished second in the conference to Mississippi College. In cross country, both the men and women’s teams finished fourth in the ASC championship. In golf, the men finished second in the ASC conference championship tournament, and the women finished fourth in conference. In soccer, the men finished second in the ASC East. Eleven tennis players were named to the men and women All-American Southwest conference teams. Coach Bizot was named ASC East coach of the year. UT Tyler students were named as both male and female newcomers of the year in the ASC East, and the men advanced to the conference championship match before losing. In volleyball, our women finished third in the ASC East division.
