UT Tyler and UT Health Center at Tyler held a groundbreaking ceremony to announce construction of the new UT Health Clinic.

The $3 million clinic, operated by UTHCT, will be located on the UT Tyler campus and will serve UT Tyler students, faculty and staff and the Tyler community.

The UT Health Clinic opened in August 2004 on the UT Tyler campus.

"The Clinic has helped the university respond to the needs of our students and parents. Its success is proof that our students appreciate the convenience of quality health care on the UT Tyler campus," UT Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry said.

The 10,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in March 2006. It will house the UT Tyler student and employee clinic and a new medical clinic for the Tyler community with services in family medicine, pediatrics and allergy, as well as other specialists.

"In addition to providing medical services, UTHCT medical professionals will provide seminars and educational sessions on health issues of interest to community residents," said UTHCT President Dr. Kirk Calhoun.

UT Health Clinic hours are 8 a.m. - noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 1 - 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
