UT Tyler Professor Working on $7.8 Million UTHCT Grant

Dr. Ali Azghani, associate professor of biology at The University of Texas at Tyler, is a collaborator on a research project that was recently funded for $7.8 million to study lung scarring, Dr. Arlene Horne, UT Tyler director of sponsored research, announced.

Dr. Steven Idell, vice president for research at the UT Tyler Health Center at Tyler, will direct the project.

The NIH Project is a five-year grant from the National Heart and Lung Institute. The research team, located in several academic centers here and abroad, will investigate how cells lining the airways contribute to lung scarring and find new drugs to cure lung diseases. More...

ICAN Food Drive

Three UT Tyler student organizations are sponsoring the ICAN food drive to benefit the East Texas Food Bank. The Nursing Christian Fellowship, Student Nursing Association and Alpha Phi Omega have organized the canned food collection, which is being held at UT Tyler for the second year.

“Because of the recent hurricanes and the food bank’s willingness to help other communities, the food bank is in need of non-perishable food items to replenish its supply,” said Robin Tillmon, senior nursing major. More...

Individual Tickets Available Nov. 28 for Four Shows at UT Tyler

Individual tickets for Sing, Sing, Sing, The Will Rogers Follies, Cirque Eloize’s Rain and Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Alexander Kobrin will go on sale Monday, Nov. 28, announced Susan Thomae-Morphew, director of the UT Tyler Cowan Center.
