Following the report of a review committee, The University of Texas at Tyler has decided to discontinue its theatre program in its present form and begin work on the development of a stronger academic focus in theatre, Dr. Rick Osburn, provost and vice president for academic affairs, announced.

The current program will conclude at the end of the fall 2005 semester. Following a recommendation by the Theatre Program Review Committee, the theatre program will then be placed within the English department. More...

A health fair will be held 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 9 for the UT Tyler community in the University Center open area.

Haunted Homecoming was held Oct. 28-29. It was kicked off with a special homecoming luncheon for the University of New Orleans students, who now attend UT Tyler as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Mark Chesnutt performed at the Cowan Center Friday evening. The Alumni Association held the 3 rd Annual UT Tyler Chili Cook-Off Saturday, Oct. 29 with 17 chili entries. The top three winners and best in showmanship took home trophies. President Mabry, deans and faculty met with alumni at a reception held in the breezeway of the Administration Building. The UT Tyler Jazz Combo provided the entertainment. The UT Tyler Volleyball team beat Mississippi College 3-1. The Homecoming King and Queen were announced at half-time. The men’s soccer team beat Letourneau University 2-0, winning their second ASC championship. And last but not least, four skydivers landed on the soccer field during half-time wearing UT Tyler soccer jerseys and carrying the American flag. Homecoming Photo Album....

UNO Opens Season in Tyler

The University of New Orleans opened its 2005-2006 season Saturday, Nov. 5 in Tyler against Tarleton State University.

The Privateers have been in Tyler since Hurricane Katrina struck the New Orleans area.
