4th Annual Banned Book Read-Out, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in the 2 nd floor lounge area of the Muntz Library. Faculty, staff and students will read excerpts from books that have been banned or challenged.

UT Tyler Wind Ensemble, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 in the Caldwell Auditorium. Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Emge, UT Tyler’s best wind and percussion students perform masterworks by Vincent Persichetti, Warren Benson, Percy Grainger, Richard Wagner, Alfred Reed and Henry Fillmore.

Part II of the Math/Biology Talk Series, noon Friday, Oct. 14 in HPR 153. Dr. John Boucher, assistant professor of biology, will present.

Slow Down, Monday, Oct. 17 – Monday, Nov. 23 in the Meadows Gallery. Slow Down is an exhibition of eight Chicago-based artists that make abstract paintings. The exhibition features works which reflect a variety of approaches to the making and thinking about abstraction in art and artists that have a distinct and powerful connection to not only the expressive but also the intellectual power of abstraction.

Alcohol Awareness Week, Monday, Oct. 17 – Friday, Oct. 21. CHOICES student organization and the Office of Student Services will sponsor various activities throughout the week encouraging students to make responsible decisions regarding alcohol and other drugs.
