International President of Honor Society to Visit UT Tyler
Dr. Daniel J. Pesut, president of Sigma Theta Tau International, will preside over the induction of nursing students into the UT Tyler Iota Nu chapter and serve as keynote speaker of a workshop for nursing professionals and students Oct. 13 - 14.
Over 80 UT Tyler nursing students will be inducted by Dr. Pesut at 5p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 in the UT Tyler Muntz Library, room 401. A book-signing and reception will follow.
The “Realizing the Vision: Transforming Nursing Through Evidence-Based Practice” workshop will be held 8:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association Ornelas Activity Center, located at 3402 Old Omen Road.
Registered nurses, nursing faculty, advance practice nurses, nurse administrators, nursing researchers and students involved in furthering the practice of evidence-based care are invited. Dr. Pesut, professor and chair of the environments for health department at Indiana University School of Nursing, has extensive clinical and administrative experience, particularly in the Psychiatric/Mental Health arena. He has also written a book titled “Clinical Reasoning: The Art and Science of Critical and Creative Thinking.”
Sigma Theta Tau is the only honorary nursing society in the world.
