UT Tyler to Host 12th Court of Appeals Sept. 27

The 12th Court of Appeals will present three case summaries Tuesday, Sept. 27 in the Braithwaite Recital Hall of the Cowan Center.

The Court will hear oral arguments from 9 a.m. – noon with a question and answer session to follow.

Chief Justice James Worthen and Justices Sam Griffith and Diane DeVasto will preside. All hearings are open.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our students to observe this part of the appellate process in action,” said Dr. Robert Sterken, UT Tyler assistant professor of political science.

One of the three cases involves a Texas Department of Public Safety high speed chase in which a DPS vehicle collides with another vehicle, not the one being pursued, and kills a 5-year-old girl.
