Baseball/Softball Field Dedication April 1
The University of Texas at Tyler will hold a dedication ceremony for the Bob and Mary Irwin Baseball Field and the UT Tyler Ballpark at noon Saturday, April 1 at the ballpark.
A hotdog lunch will follow the ceremony.
Longtime friends of the University, Bob and Mary Irwin will throw the first pitches at the UT Tyler baseball and softball games at 1 p.m.
Honored as the 2004 Patriots of the Year for their enduring contributions to the advancement of UT Tyler, the Irwins are longtime supporters.
Mr. Irwin has supported the university since the 1980s, when he became involved in UT Tyler’s Eisenhower International Golf Classic. The annual event benefited the scholarship program.
His commitment to the university is also fueled by the contagious enthusiasm of his wife, who was a member of the administrative staff for more than 10 years, serving as vice president for university advancement from 2001 to 2003. |
