Students Present CASA with Ideas

UT Tyler students Cynthia Watkins (left), Ashleigh Crider (middle) and Ashlie Mattox (right) present their communication campaign to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) board members and volunteers as well as Judge Carol Clark in the UT Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library May 9.
Two campaigns were presented to CASA by student teams in Dr. Alisa White’s public relations techniques class. The campaigns included goals and objectives, strategies and tactics, a budget and events.
In this team’s campaign, the lemonade stand would help increase public awareness of CASA and encourage others to “Make a Stand for Children.” The stand would be present at city events and businesses and manned by volunteers handing out CASA information and selling lemonade.
Other ideas included a champagne and chocolate cookbook, a pancake breakfast, an art exhibition, CASA for Kids Day and decorating the CASA building with children’s artwork.
Watkins is a May 2006 political science/journalism graduate, Crider is a senior journalism major and Mattox is a senior journalism/public relations major.
