Deck by the Lake

Construction of a wooden deck overlooking UT Tyler’s Harvey Lake is underway. The deck is the next step in transforming UT Tyler into a student-friendly, pedestrian oriented campus.

“We are working hard to build a sense of community and make the campus a more desirable place to be,” said Gregg Lassen, UT Tyler vice president of business affairs. “A lot of learning takes place outside of the classroom, and the deck will provide a place where students, faculty and staff can mingle.”

The approximatley 3,000 square foot deck, which will be furnished with patio furniture, is expected to be completed by June 10.

The UT Tyler Student Government Association has committed funds to assist with the project.
