Cornyn to Visit U.T. Tyler, Announce $1 Million for Organic Semiconductor Research

Will Highlight Product’s Role in Helping Military Fight War on Terror

WASHINGTON—U.S.. Sen. John Cornyn will be in Tyler on Thursday, December 21 to announce $1 million in funding to The University of Texas at Tyler for research at the Center for Organic Semiconductor Modeling and Simulation (COSMOS). Following the announcement and a demonstration of COSMOS’s work, Sen. Cornyn will be available for media interviews.
 
Sen. Cornyn will highlight the important role the technologies products will play in helping the military fight the war on terror. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Cornyn was instrumental in helping UT Tyler secure the funding.
 
COSMOS, a joint effort between UT Tyler and UT Dallas, is the first center in Texas to focus on organic materials, such as plastics, to produce flexible electronics. The funding, which comes through the Department of Defense, will be used to boost research on organic semiconductors and enhance their performance and manufacturability.
 
On hand for the announcement will be representatives of UT Tyler and UT Dallas, community leaders and various elected officials.
