Cross Country Runs to Fight Cancer
The UT Tyler Cross Country team will host its inaugural Tread-A-Thon 9 a.m Saturday, March 31 through 6 p.m. Sunday, April 1 at Racquet & Jog, located on South Broadway.
The student-athletes will use the event to raise money for the campus’ second annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Fight the Fright.
At least one cross country team member will be running on a treadmill during the 33-hour period. Each runner is asked to seek pledge donations in any of the following formats:
- Flat Donation – pledge any amount of money to benefit the American Cancer Society.
- Individual Runner Pledge – pledge an amount of money for each mile that a selected runner completes (i.e. 9 miles in 60 minutes equals $9)
- Team Runner Pledge – pledge an amount of money per mile that the entire team runs during the event.
The goal is to raise more than $1,000.
Non-UT Tyler runners can participate by reserving a time slot. Call Bob Hepler for more information, 903.565.5571.
UT Tyler’s second annual Relay for Life event will be held Friday through Saturday, April 13 -14 at the intramural fields, which are next to the Citizens Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex off of Old Omen Road.
The relay is organized by UT Tyler’s Colleges Against Cancer organization which raised over $10,000 last year. This year’s goal is $20,000.
