UT Tyler Conducts Outdoors Adventures Sabine River Trip

UT Tyler students, faculty and staff can enjoy a peaceful, relaxing time canoeing, according to Dr. Neil Ford, professor of biology at The University of Texas at Tyler.

This year, participants will spend May 19 canoeing on the Sabine River, where they will see a variety of interesting features. As part of the UT Tyler Outdoors Adventures Program started in 2005, the trip takes UT Tyler students, faculty and staff outside to enjoy the outdoors, Ford explains.

“That’s what it’s all about,” said Ford. “I find that students don’t get outside very much anymore. As a biologist, I think that it’s important they do. The trip can be a teambuilding kind of experience, too.”

The one-day trip is free and open to all students, faculty and staff. Camp Tyler provides the canoes, and UT Tyler Student Activities provides a free lunch.
