Hill Named Interim Director of Student Development at UT Tyler

David Hill, director of residence life and judicial affairs at The University of Texas at Tyler, has been named interim director for student development, Dr. Howard Patterson, UT Tyler interim vice president for student affairs and external relations, announced.

Hill will serve as interim director until a permanent director is named.

“Mindy Sutton accepted a position as assistant dean of students at UT Austin as of this spring semester,” said Dr. Lou Ann Berman, UT Tyler assistant vice president for student success. “I am pleased that Dave has agreed to serve as the interim director because I am confident that he will provide an effective balance of new vision and stability for our students and staff during this transition. His leadership style is inclusive and student-oriented.”

He will continue to serve as director of resident life and judicial affairs, Berman said.

Serving UT Tyler since 2004, Hill previously has served at Texas Tech University, the University of Southern Indiana and Baylor University.

He holds a bachelor of arts degree in communication and a master of science degree in educational administration, both from Texas A&M University.
