Dr. Stephen Rainwater serves as acting chair and Chandler professor of computer science.

The UT Tyler Department of Computer Science has nine full-time faculty members and two staff assistants. In addition to providing for a quality learning environment with more than 5000 square feet of new teaching classrooms and research labs, faculty members are well recognized for contributions to their fields. 

Two special labs in the department are the Computer Security Lab and the High Performance Computing Lab.  The department also participates in the Texas Cyber Security Research and Training Institute first responders training program.
