Three UT Tyler baseball players have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association 2012 All-Region team, including a nod to the 2012 ABCA Gold Glove Team. T.J. Martin and Hayden Chick were named to the first-team, while teammate Aaron McCain was named to the second-team.

Martin, a junior from Plano, was named first-team third baseman, batting .369, with 58 hits, 38 RBI's and scoring 34 runs. While Martin had a stellar season at the plate, his defensive work stood-out. The ABCA named him to the 2012 Gold Glove team, an award that goes to the best defensive players in the country. He finished with a .955 fielding percentage, with 152 assists and numerous jaw-dropping plays.

Chick, a senior from Waco, was named first-team catcher, leading the team with a .416 batting average, blasting three home runs, 33 RBI's and 72 hits. Chick started all 45 games behind the plate, helping to guide the Patriots' young pitching staff.

McCain was named the second-team shortstop by the ABCA, after another great season. The senior from Royse City finished the season leading the team in several offensive categories, including at-bats (186), hits (69), doubles (15), home runs (4), RBI's (46), total bases (104) and walks (25). The slick-fielding shortstop also finished with a .945 fielding percentage, with 131 assists. More...
