The UT Tyler police are issuing parking permits for the 2012 – 13 academic year, Mike Medders, chief of police, announced.

Permits are available at the University Police Department, located in the University Services Center, room 125. Cost is $48, which covers two permits.

“For all vehicles with a permanent rear glass window, permits are to be affixed and displayed on the outside of the rear window, lower left driver’s side. For all other vehicles that do not have a permanent rear glass window, permits are to be affixed and displayed on the outside of the passenger side front windshield,” Medders said.

Hang tags and other means of displaying the permit are not permissible. Motorcyclists may display their permit anywhere on the motorcycle as long as it is visible, he added.

Students must bring their university ID and have paid for their decal prior to issuance.

Employees must bring a photo ID and completed payroll deduction form or have purchased a decal from the cashiers office and bring their receipt prior to issuance.

Anyone with a police hold or outstanding balance with the UT Tyler Police Department will not be issued a parking permit.

Parking permits also will be issued to students, faculty and staff in the University Center lobby at the following times:

•8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Aug. 15 – 17

•8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Aug. 20

Permits must be properly displayed on motor vehicles and motorcycles no later than the third class day of the semester, after which time citations will be issued.

Those who need additional decals may purchase them for full price, Medders said.
