UT Tyler to Hold Annual Welcome Week Aug. 20 – 25

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold 2012 Patriot Palooza on Aug. 20 – 25, Ona Tolliver, assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students, announced.

Patriot Palooza is UT Tyler’s annual welcome week and provides all students with free food, concerts, movies and other social activities.

Events include:

Monday, Aug. 20

• 11:30 a.m. Harvey Lake Deck: Back to School Barbecue Bash.

• 4:30 p.m. University Center patio: Swoopsation. Annual student organization showcase featuring live music by The Doyle Brothers.

• 7 – 11 p.m. UC: Patriot Palooza Carnival. Includes games, prizes and more.

Tuesday, Aug. 21

• Noon UC theater: Movie Matinee featuring The Avengers.

• 5 – 6 p.m. UC theater: New Student Convocation featuring author and linguistics scholar Dr. Deborah Fallows.

Wednesday, Aug. 22

• 6:30 p.m. Sports Café: Comedy Night featuring Justin Worsham.

Friday, Aug. 24

• 7 – 11 p.m. Herrington Patriot Center pool: Welcome Back Pool Party.

Saturday, Aug. 25

• 9 a.m. UC: UT Tyler Student Leadership Summit.
