TYLER -- Three members of the UT Tyler women's soccer team were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-West Region team on Tuesday. Since the start of the women's program in 2003, six players have been named NSCAA All-Region.

2012 was arguably the best season in program history for the Patriots after going 14-5-1 overall and 11-1 in the American Southwest Conference, finishing as runners-up to Hardin-Simmons.

Charity Shipman, a senior from Lindale, was named Second Team West Region after leading the team with 10 goals and 23 total points scored. Shipman started every game for the Patriots this season, finishing her career 18 goals.

Amanda Weaver, a senior from Arlington was named Second Team West Region after leading a defensive unit that allowed just 15 goals on the season (0.75 per game). During her career at UT Tyler, Weaver was named All-ASC twice and a member of the All-Academic team for three seasons.

Newcomer Courtney Dunstan was named Third Team West Region after a stellar first season with the Patriots. Dunstan, a transfer from the Univ. of Houston also helped the Patriots defense to 10 shutouts on the season. More...
