The UT Tyler Police Department is holding a communitywide care package drive for one of their own, Mike Medders, chief of police, announced.
UT Tyler Police Officer Brian Froiseth has been reactivated for his second deployment to the Gulf region with the U.S. Navy. He has served UT Tyler since 2006 and was serving in the Navy Reserves prior to his employment.
Campus police will collect items for the care package to Froiseth through Monday, July 15. Items may be dropped off at the UT Tyler Police Department, located at 3410 Varsity Drive in Tyler.
“These men and women leave their homes and families months at a time to serve our country. While they are over there, I believe we should support them and let them know that they are not forgotten, and they are missed back home,” said Michael Seale, UT Tyler police sergeant.
Recommended items include hand sanitizer, toothpaste, travel-size shampoo and conditioner, travel-size medicine such as Tylenol packs, baby wipes, chap-stick, nonperishable food and snack items and magazines, Seale added.
The Texas System Police Association serves as co-sponsor.
