The UT Tyler Department of Residence Life is inviting all highly-qualified students to apply to be a resident assistant, David Hill, director of residence life and judicial affairs, announced.
The minimum requirements for being a UT Tyler RA are as follows:
- Have accumulated at least 30 credit hours by the start date (normally Aug. 1)
- Maintain a 2.5 Cumulative GPA
- Enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 hours must be taken each semester)
- Be available to begin RA training on Aug. 1
Students interested in becoming an RA at a university housing facility may pick up an application at the front desk of any of the housing facilities (Ornelas Hall, Patriot Village and University Pines). Applications are also available in the UT Tyler Office of Residence Life (University Center, room 3320) and online at www.uttyler.edu/housing. Application deadline is 3 p.m. Friday, March 7.
“This is a great chance to get involved on the UT Tyler campus and truly plug into the on-campus communities,” Hill said. “Also, with the acquisition of a new housing property in its final phases, our department is looking to create a new staff to pave the way to making another exceptional living environment on campus.”
RAs are the leaders of their communities and help to foster an atmosphere of healthy living and learning on campus. Additionally, RAs work in conjunction with UT Tyler faculty and staff to increase awareness of and confront violations of university policy.
