UT Tyler has partnered with Everfi, the creators of AlcoholEdu and Haven, to provide prevention training for all students, Kim Harvey-Livingston, director of student services, announced.

The training courses apply science-based research to educate students about alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention.

“Because The University of Texas at Tyler cares about the safety of all our students, and nationwide we see that alcohol misuse and interpersonal violence puts students at risk, we have chosen to provide this research-based education program,” said Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs. “These programs also help UT Tyler to meet federal education requirements for not only students who attend classes on the Tyler campus, but also in distance education and online locations.”

Related information for UT Tyler students, including program registration and login instructions, is provided via Patriot email.

Additional education and trainings will continue to be offered throughout the year to educate UT Tyler students, faculty and staff on topics such as mandatory reporting on sexual misconduct and confidential options through the UT Tyler Student Counseling Center.

AlcoholEdu, which uses the latest prevention techniques and science-based research to educate students about various forms of campus safety, is used on more than 500 campuses nationwide. Haven, higher education’s first compliance-based program for primary sexual assault prevention, provides important prevention skills and strategies to students.
