The City of Tyler has begun converting its water disinfection process to free chlorine
for a period of approximately one month. Generally, there are no noticeable changes
in water quality, but some individuals may notice taste and odor changes and a slight
discoloration of the water. The water is safe to consume during this conversion period.
If discoloration is noticed, we are asked to temporarily flush faucets, tubs and toilets
until the water has cleared. Clothing should NOT be washed during times of discoloration
in order to reduce the possibility of staining.
NOTE: Dialysis patients should consult their physicians to determine whether adjustments
are necessary to their dialysis equipment.
On or around Nov. 6, 2014, the City of Tyler will convert its disinfection process
back to chloramines.
