Michael Giordano, UT Tyler assistant director of graduate admissions, has been awarded a fellowship to the Association for Graduate Enrollment Management's 2017 Winter Professional Development Institute, Dr. Alecia Wolf, assistant dean of the Graduate School and director of graduate admissions, announced.
This award is the result of an essay contest Giordano entered in October 2016. The given topic of the essay was to describe the current situation of graduate enrollment management and how the institute will help enhance one's performance and career. His essay described the dilemma facing graduate institutions as they work to court students while maintaining institutional prestige.
"We are proud that Michael has won this fellowship," Wolf said. "He recently earned his Leadership in Enrollment Management Certificate from the University of Southern California, so he's very aware of the issues facing graduate enrollment management, and I think the conference will be a wonderful professional development opportunity that benefits both Michael and our office."
Giordano joined UT Tyler in 2012 as coordinator of admissions for online graduate programs for the College of Education and Technology and moved to his current position in 2015, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the graduate admissions office and strives to maintain the high level of efficiency and customer service that is the hallmark of the department, Wolf added.
