Zakk Washington has been named the new graphic designer in the UT Tyler Office of Marketing and Communications, executive director Beverley Golden announced.

As the graphic designer for marketing and communications, Washington will develop designs to support the university's marketing strategy to attract and retain high-ability students. He also will work closely with art director April Moore to plan the direction and processes required to execute projects.

"We are very pleased to welcome Zakk," Golden said. "He impressed us with his ability and enthusiasm, and I know he will be a great asset to our team."

Washington most recently has worked as the graphic designer for Grumpe's Lollipops. There, he successfully re-branded the company's image by developing packaging as well as print and web materials.

Washington holds a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design from Baylor University.

While a student at Baylor University, Washington worked in the athletics' communications department as a graphic designer and media intern, assisting with print design and social media management. In 2013, he studied studio art at the Florence University of the Arts in Italy.
