Gifford's The Third Space

University of Texas at Tyler graduate degree candidate Joanna Gifford of Tyler will present her thesis exhibition beginning Monday, Oct. 16 in the Fine Arts Complex Gallery. A public reception and gallery talk will be 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at the gallery. The show concludes Friday, Oct. 27.

This exhibit is conducted in partial fulfillment of the master of arts/master of fine arts degree program at The University of Texas at Tyler.

"Joanna has been interested in the idea of space since she began in the field of visual arts over a decade ago – not just outer space, but the space that surrounds us internally and externally, and how that affects us, mentally and physically," said gallery coordinator Michelle Taff.

"In the past, she has explored various aspects of the human condition, from compassion to our connectedness to the Earth, and in this latest installation she has combined some of the most germane concepts discovered from these pieces. This seeking and discovering is what fuels her research studies as well as her everyday life," Taff said.

The gallery is in The University of Texas at Tyler Fine Arts Complex on the main campus in Tyler. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.
