UT Tyler Contribute FTP Tutorial

Setting up an FTP Connection in Contribute
NOTE: You will NOT be using a connection key to set up your connection at this time.
This is a one-time set up process to get you connected to Contribute. To set up a new connection you will first receive an email from IR (Diane) with your new FTP username and password. You will need to remember both of these to connect to Contribute.
Next, open Contribute by doubleclicking on the Contribute Icon on your desktop.
1. Once you are in Contribute, we want to remove any previous connections you have in Contribute from before you can continue.
Select "Edit", then "My Connections".

2. Next, we are going to remove your old connection key. (If this box is blank, you can skip to box number 4. ) You will select Publishing Server, then Remove. see below.
3. Next, a message will ask you if you are sure you want to continue? You say "Yes".
Then, and this is IMPORTANT, select "CLOSE".4. NEXT, we are going to select, "Create Connection" at the top.
A box will pop up that says "Connection Wizard" and you will select "Next".
From here, you will need to start entering your information to connect to the server.Under What do you want to connect to?
You will select "Website" from the pull down menu.Then, in the "What is the web address (url) of your website?)
You will enter YOUR Web Address that you update.
IF you update more than one site, enter the one that you update the MOST.
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE (the blue area is where you will enter your information.
"http://www.uttyler.edu/news"5. Then, select "next"
Next, it asks how do you connect to the web server?
You will select "FTP" from the pulldown menu. Select Next.
In the next box, enter "www.uttyler.edu" (NOT your URL)
Then, enter YOUR user name and FTP Password given to you by
Information Resources (Diane). Do not at any time save your FTP
Password, please remember it. Select Next.
The next box will ask you for YOUR Name, then your Email.
Select Next.
Then, you will see your connection information! Select Done.
You are now ready to edit your site! Select "Edit Page" at the top of the browser.
The next time you are ready to connect to Contribute, simply open Contribute by doubleclicking the icon, and enter
