![]() UT Tyler Psychology Students, Faculty Honored At Awards BanquetApril 24, 2001 University of Texas at Tyler students and faculty were honored at the Association of Psychology Students and Psi Chi Annual Awards and Induction Banquet Saturday, April 21, Dr. Carol Grotheus, faculty adviser and assistant professor of psychology, announced. During the event at Tyler's Potpourri House, eight students were inducted into Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology, including undergraduates Jennifer Blakeney, Shanna McKelvey, Amanda Ryan, Courtney Smith, Tracie Summers and Abbi Wade, and graduate students Julie Davis and Meloney Sherman. Outstanding Student awards also were presented. The psychology faculty selects five nominees from each of three programs. Jennifer Blakeney was named Outstanding Undergraduate in Psychology. Other nominees were Rhoda Bicknell, Kimberly Linn, Heather McConnell and Tracie Summers. Janae Flournoy was named Outstanding Graduate Student in Psychology. Other nominees were Jennifer Craven, Terri Dickson, Sam Dwyer and Stephanie Homel. Julie Davis was named Outstanding Graduate in School Counseling. Other nominees were Janelle Bowland, Bill Irvine, Cindy Martin and Mariann Parham. Students presented two faculty awards. Dr. Paul Lundberg-Love, professor of psychology, received the Outstanding Faculty Member in Psychology award. Dr. Shirley Jones, associate professor of counselor education, was the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Member in School Counseling award. Numerous other recognition and "humorous'' awards were presented by students. Officers of APS/Psi Chi for 2000-01 are Terri Dickson, Ashley Guerrero, Sam Dwyer, Kimberly Linn and Lindsay Jones. Officers for 2001-02 will be Lindsay Jones, Erin Alexander, Amberly Shaw, Amanda Ryan and Abbi Wade. Faculty Advisers for APS/Psi Chi are Dr. Carol Grothues and Dr. Ronnie Livingston. |
