2001 Cox UT Tyler Patriot Youth Putting Contest Begins May 12

The week-long Cox UT Tyler Patriot Youth Putting Contest --- offering prizes for each champion in three different age categories --- will open Saturday, May 12 at the Tyler hole-in-one site behind the Sheraton Hotel.

This year's contest, May 12 -19, offers three golf ball putts for $1. Putters and golf balls will be provided for all entrants.

The Youth Putting Contest is structured in three categories of competition: elementary (kindergarten - fifth grade), middle (sixth grade - eighth grade) and high school (ninth grade - 12th grade).

Contest hours will be 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Saturdays; 2 - 7 p.m. Sunday, and 4 - 7 p.m. weekdays.

Each day's competition will result in a "daily qualifier" in each age category; daily qualifiers will advance to the final round of competition on Sunday, May 20 following the Cox UT Tyler Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One finals at Hollytree Country Club.

Prizes in each age category will be awarded at the May 20 putting championship.
