Summer Commencement to Recognize 192 Candidates

The University of Texas at Tyler will recognize 192 degree candidates during summer commencement at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the UT Tyler Cowan Center, President Rodney H. Mabry has announced.

Commencement remarks will be given by Dr. Virginia Beidelman, immediate past president of the UT Tyler Faculty Senate.

Mabry will certify degree candidates and A.W. Riter Jr., vice chairman, UT System Board of Regents, will confer degrees.

Presentation of degree candidates will be by Dr. David H. O'Keeffe, provost and vice president for academic affairs; and by the representatives of each of the university's colleges: Dr. Donna L. Dickerson, dean, College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jim Tarter, dean, College of Business and Technology; Dr. J. Milford Clark, dean, College of Education and Psychology; Dr. Troy F. Henson, dean, College of Engineering and Computer Science; and Dr. Pamela Martin, assistant dean, College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Dr. Robert H. Cranford, senior faculty member, will be the macebearer.

Music will be provided by the UT Tyler Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Jeff Emge.

The Rev. Ron Byrd, pastor of University Christian Church, will give the invocation and benediction. Penny B. Urwiller will give the alumni association presentation.
