UT Tyler to Offer ‘Creating Virtual Classroom’ ConferenceThe University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences will sponsor a professional conference on the fundamentals of Internet courses, Dr. Linda Klotz, dean, announced.
“Creating the Virtual Classroom” will be offered Oct. 23 and 24 at the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. The conference is open to educators, students, health care professionals and the general public.
The fees are $175 per day or $150 per day for those attending both days. Group discounts are available. The registration fee includes all conference sessions, materials, breakfast, refreshments and lunch each day.Exhibits, massage therapists and door prizes also will be available.
The UT Tyler nursing faculty incorporated this technology into their current courses and designed the conference to help others do the same.
Conference topics include how to create courses, navigate online teaching/learning experiences, network with other educators and students and obtain online resources and teaching strategies.
“Creating the Virtual Classroom” is developed by UT Tyler nursing faculty Carol Kilmon, Ph.D., RN; Melinda Hermanns, MSN, RN, BC; Ann Perry, MSN, RN and Jarvis Christian College faculty Rene Bruner, MA.
It is funded by grants from the Sid Richardson Foundation and East Texas Outreach for Physical and Fiscal Health.
