![]() A.J. Jamal to Perform During UT Tyler HomecomingJanuary 21, 2004 The University of Texas at Tyler’s second annual homecoming events will include a performance by comedian A.J. Jamal at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in the University Center. Homecoming 2004: A Living Tradition, sponsored by the UT Tyler Student Government Association, will be Monday, Jan. 26-Saturday, Jan. 31. General admission to the A.J. Jamal performance will be $5 per person. Admission will be free to UT Tyler students, faculty, staff and members of the UT Tyler Alumni Association with current identification. With credits that include a decade of television appearances, Jamal served as host of his own show, the ACE Award nominated “Comic Justice’’ on the Comedy Central Network. He has worked in venues from Radio City Hall to Caesar's Palace and performed in concert with a bevy of top recording artists including Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Cher and Kenny Loggins. Jamal’s G-rated persona has been captured on the screens of “The Arsenio Hall Show,’’ “Comic Strip Live,’’ A&E’s “An Evening at the Improv,’’ and “Def Comedy Jam.’’ He also has served as the host of “Comedy in the Caribbean’’ for the Arts & Entertainment Network. Homecoming events on Monday, Jan. 26, will include a noon pep rally in the University Center and UT Tyler vs. UT Dallas women’s and men’s basketball games at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, at the Herrington Patriot Center. Live Music in the UC with Cody Shaw and Will McDonald will be 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28; UT Tyler vs. East Texas Baptist University women’s and men’s basketball games, Thursday, Jan. 29, at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively; and Late Night Breakfast in the UC with music provided by George Faber and Friends ($5 admission charge), 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. An Alumni Association Chili Cook-Off will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Athletic events on that day will include a 5K Homecoming Run, 8 a.m.; UT Tyler vs. Howard Payne University tennis match, 10 a.m.; and UT Tyler vs. LeTourneau University women’s and men’s basketball games, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
