UT Tyler Texas “Shootout” Barbecue Offers Food, Fun and
Entertainment

The University of Texas at Tyler Texas “Shootout” Barbecue
and Auction will feature an evening of good, old-fashioned fun Sunday,
May 16 at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center, President Rodney H.
Mabry announced.
The evening, organized by the Patriot Ambassadors, will begin at 6 p.m.
There will be more than 100 live and silent auction items.
Tickets to the barbecue are $75 each and can be purchased in advance or
at the door. Proceeds benefit the UT Tyler scholarship program for students
at the university’s Tyler, Longview and Palestine campuses.
Cowboy singer Michael Martin Murphey will provide the main entertainment
with a concert in the Maytee Fisch Convocation Center.
Highlights of the evening will be a drawing to win one of four vehicles
provided by Tyler Ford and the live auction.
Drawing tickets are $100 each, and participants will have a one in 300
chance of winning a Mustang GT convertible, Escape Ltd. SUV, Freestar
SES minivan or F150 XLT Super Crew truck.
Live auction items include trips for two to Palm Springs, Key West and
Palm Beach. Travel arrangements are provided by Sharon Howell of Travel
Masters and American Airlines/American Eagle.
Live auction items include:
- 4 days/3 nights at the Hyatt Key West, Florida;
- 4 days/3 nights at the Esmeralda Resort in Palm Springs, California;
- 4 days/3 nights at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado;
- 3 days/2 nights at the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach, Florida;
- hunting trip to 10,000 acre Tesquesquite Ranch near Brackettville,
Texas;
- football weekend for four to see the Texas Longhorns vs. Rice University
in Austin, includes President’s reception and 50-yard-line seats;
and
- collection of golden citrine and diamond jewelry featuring matching
necklace, ring and earrings.
The Patriot Ambassadors organize the Texas “Shootout” Barbecue
and Auction. Linda Rowe serves as barbecue chair.
