
UT Tyler Exceeds Projected Enrollment for Fall 2004
Official enrollment figures for the fall 2004 semester total 5,308
full-time students at The University of Texas at Tyler, President Rodney
H. Mabry announced.
This is an 11 percent increase over last fall’s total of 4,783. This
figures also is 15 percent more than the University’s projected enrollment
for 2004.
“According to our projected growth pattern, we were to see an enrollment
of about 4,600students in 2004, and we didn’t anticipate reaching 5,300
students until 2008. At this rate, we will reach our target goal of 6,000 students
ahead of schedule,” said Jim Hutto, dean of enrollment management.
Full-time student enrollment at UT Tyler has increased a total of 62 percent
over the last four years.
The 6,000-student target enrollment is a part of UT Tyler’s New Millennium
Vision, which outlines the university’s strategic plan for growth by
2010.
At 52,742, the fall 2004 total semester credit hours are up 14 percent over
last fall’s 49,768.

“This is certainly a milestone for UT Tyler. It’s one that
we’ve reached because our faculty are extremely successful in providing
the highest quality academic programs, comparable to any in The University
of Texas System,” President Mabry added.
UT Tyler student population represents 52 nations, 31 states and 14 Texas counties.
There are 158 out-of-state students and 95 international students enrolled
this fall.
The fall 2004 enrollment includes students at UT Tyler’s Longview and
Palestine campuses. The UT Tyler Palestine Campus shows a 42 percent increase,
while enrollment at the UT Tyler Longview University Center is down 9 percent.
UT Tyler is an exciting component of the UT System that offers excellence in
