Conway-Korman to Bring Comedy to Cowan Center

Comedy legends Tim Conway and Harvey Korman will join forces to kick off the 2004-05 Performing Arts Series at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, Susan Thomae-Morphew, Cowan Center director, announced.

Conway and Korman will bring their hit “Together Again,’’ with special guest star Louise DuArt, to the Cowan Center stage at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2. The show is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Z. Ornelas.

Tickets are $61, $51 and $41. Box office hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Conway and Korman, along with master impressionist DuArt, will present their popular solo standup acts and perform skits and sketches together, including favorites from “The Carol Burnett Show.’’

Known to his peers as “the comedian’s comedian,’’ Conway had a fast rise in show business from staff member of a Cleveland television station. He became a regular on “The Steve Allen Show,’’ a featured performer on McHales Navy television series, and eventually became a regular performer on “The Carol Burnett Show.’’ His television career has spanned 35 years, and he has won five Emmy Award.

Korman would have gone unnoticed save for a few motion pictures with Mel Brooks (“High Anxiety,’’ Blazing Saddles,’’ “History of the World’’) and a lucky 10-year run on “The Carol Burnett Show.’’ He played an astonishing variety of characters on that show, earning him four Emmys and one Golden Globe.

Besides touring with Conway and Korman, DuArt is seen nationally hosting the talk show “Living the Life’’ every morning on ABC Family Channel. Her other current series, “Café DuArt,’’ has been hailed as one of cable television’s most innovative comedy-variety programs. On Broadway, she received critical acclaim for her starring roles in the long-running hit “Catskills on Broadway’’ and in the comedy/musical “Dreamstuff.’’
