Eight residents of Van Zandt County were among 607 degree candidates recognized by The University of Texas at Tyler in spring commencement ceremonies May 6.
Van Zandt County residents and their degrees are:
CANTON – Melanie Alice McCarty, B.A., English; Mindy Kate Kirby, B.S., political science; and Cheryl R. Adams, B.A., psychology.
GRAND SALINE – Gloria Rachel Bowen, B.S.I.S.
VAN - Niki Lynette Hill, B.S.N; Cindy Bass and Lisa E. Lopez, B.S., criminal justice; and Samantha Caroline Reynolds, B.S.I.S.
Commencement remarks were given by Dr. Michael Bell, UT Tyler alumni and president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. President Rodney H. Mabry certified degree candidates. Presentation of degree candidates was by Dr. Richard Osburn, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and by the representatives of each of the university’s colleges.
