The University of Texas at Tyler will observe the 220th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.
Monday, Sept. 17:
- Noon – 12:30 p.m.: Representatives of the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution, dressed in period attire, will give a presentation in the University Center’s open area.
- 12:30 p.m.: The UT Tyler Student Government Association will hold a luncheon for area high school students. Dr. James Newsom, UT Tyler senior lecturer in history, will give a presentation titled “Securing the Blessings of Liberty.”
- 5 p.m.: The UT Tyler Riter Millennium Carillon Tower will toll its bells to mark the signing of the U.S. Constitution which took place Sept. 17, 1787.
