UT Tyler Senior Art Exhibition to Open Dec. 3

Three seniors at The University of Texas at Tyler will exhibit their current works Dec. 3 through Jan.18, 2008, Gary Hatcher, UT Tyler art department chair, announced.
Adam Brinson Atkins of Longview, Patricia Adrianne Pamplin of Longview and Jessica Leigh Huddleston of Athens are candidates for fine arts degrees this fall.
The senior art exhibition will be held at the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center Meadows Gallery.
The public is invited to meet the artists during a reception 6 – 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the gallery.
Atkins is studying studio arts specializing in two-dimensional work.
“My art is a way for me to express how I feel about what is going on around me,” Atkins said.“My aggressive style is a directviewof my type of personality. I do not try to be gentle with my work.”
Huddleston is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Chi honor societies.
“As an artist, I am interested in the abstract expression of concepts essential to human life,” Huddleston said. “I focus on concepts that are fundamental to human life and can be traced to basic biological properties and patterns that are expressed through genetics and unconscious behavior.”
Pamplin also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Chi honor societies.
“My work reflects a study of human culture and communication. I combine gesture drawing and my own symbols in layers of texture and different mediums to show an intent or mood without literal or specific cultural comment,” Pamplin said. “The language in the works is not identifiable or decipherable.” 
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, during the regular semester.
