Project Lead the Way Summer Training at UT Tyler
The University of Texas at Tyler will offer two Texas Project Lead The Way Summer Training Institutes for secondary school teachers, Dr. John Hansen, professor of technology and Ingenuity Center executive director, announced.
Hosted by the UT Tyler’s Ingenuity Center and East Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Center, the training sessions are June 16 – 28 and July 21 – Aug. 8.
“This core training is an integral part of a three-phase professional development program that is offered during the summer on university campuses around the country,” said Julie Moore, Ingenuity Center director. “The institute provides a collaborative setting where teachers are immersed in content-specific, project-based instruction that integrates science, mathematics, engineering, and technology knowledge and skills.”
The cost for a session is $2,750, which includes registration, housing and meals. Registration deadline is one week prior to each session.
Project Lead The Way is a national program that seeks to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating from the education system by forming partnerships among public schools, higher education institutions and the private sector.
