The University of Texas at Tyler, in collaboration with the University of Southern Mississippi, will offer a study abroad experience to France through the Abbey Program, Dr. Jill Blondin, UT Tyler Center for Global Education director, announced.

Offered during the spring 2013 semester, the program provides UT Tyler students the opportunity to live in The Abbey, which is located in Pontlevoy, France. There, they will study general education courses in history, art history, literature and French. Participants also will visit Paris and tour Europe. Cost is $13,999 – $14,799 and includes tuition, program deposit, fees, housing and some meals.

This year, Blondin will join Abbey Program faculty with a new condensed course she has created, “Rebirth: Art and Beauty of the European Renaissance.”

“In this course, we will be exploring art and architecture in Paris, Amsterdam and Rome. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Blondin said.

An information meeting will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 in the UT Tyler Business Building, room 106. Interested students who miss or cannot attend the meeting may still apply, Blondin said.

Application submission deadline with a $250 nonrefundable deposit is due Friday, Nov. 2. A $1,250 nonrefundable housing deposit is due Friday, Dec. 7. All payments are due Friday, Dec. 21. Students will participate Feb. 1 – April 30, 2013.

Limited financial aid and scholarship funds are available.
