Three big names have been added to the 2013 – 14 season at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, Susan Thomae-Morphew, executive director, announced.

Broadcast journalist and talk show host, Katie Couric, comedian Jerry Seinfeld and author Robert Edsel have been included in the “A Million Moments” season, which already featured many amazing performances.

These performance dates are Katie Couric, Oct. 8; Jerry Seinfeld, Oct. 24; and Robert Edsel, March 25.

Tickets can be purchased at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office by calling 903.566.7424 or online at www.cowancenter.org. Box office hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Jerry Seinfeld performance is sold out.

“Just when we thought this season couldn’t get any better, it did. We’re thrilled to have all of this wonderful talent. It’s truly a memorable season,” said Thomae-Morphew.

Another change to the season’s lineup is the removal of Deer Camp: The Musical. The company experienced two tragic deaths and is not performing at this time.

“We were very sorry to lose this great show, but we certainly understand their need to take some time to deal with their loss,” she added.

The Seinfeld performance set a record at the box office when tickets went on sale. More tickets were sold in the first day of public sales than for any other public-sales day in the Cowan Center’s history. The performance went on to sellout.

Jointly presented by Samaritan Counseling Center, CBS 19/London Broadcasting and UT Tyler Cowan Center, Couric is an award-winning journalist and TV personality, well-known cancer advocate and New York Times best-selling author of The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives.

Couric currently hosts and executive produces her own syndicated daytime talk show, Katie, and she also serves as a special correspondent contributing to ABC World News, Nightline, 20/20, Good Morning America, This Week and primetime news specials.

Known for her unprecedented 15-year run as co-anchor of NBC’s Today and for becoming the first solo female anchor of a national nightly news broadcast, CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, she joined the Disney/ABC Television Group in August 2011.

America’s premier comedian, Seinfeld will perform his signature stand-up routine.

He has been hailed for his uncanny ability to joke about the little things in life that relate to audiences everywhere.

Seinfeld has set his sights on performing both nationally and internationally in 2013.

Edsel is the author of non-fiction books, Rescuing Da Vinci and The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History as well as Saving Italy, which was published in May 2013.

Last year Academy®-award winning actor George Clooney announced he would make a film version of Edsel’s book, The Monuments Men. The movie will be written, directed and will star Clooney. Other stars include Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray. The film is slated for release in December 2013.
