The University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences, in conjunction with Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals, will present the first Interprofessional Evidence-Based Practice Conference, Dr. Tai Wang, college dean, announced.

The public event will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center and features keynote speakers Dr. Ellen Fineout-Overholt, UT Tyler Mary Coulter Dowdy Distinguished Nursing Professor, along with Dr. Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk, associate vice president for health promotion at Ohio State University. They are co-authors of the best-selling book, EBP in Nursing & Healthcare: A Guide to Best Practice.

“These nationally recognized nursing leaders, educators and promoters of EBP frequently speak at conferences and share the knowledge of establishing an EBP culture,” said Shannon Kemp, UT Tyler clinical instructor who serves as conference planning committee chair. “We look forward to having nearly 900 nursing students, educators and healthcare professionals attend to learn more about evidence-based practice and why it’s the foundation for clinical decision-making to improve healthcare outcomes.”

Dr. Lane Brunner, UT Tyler Sam A. Lindsey Professor and Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy founding dean, will present endnotes.

Lunch will be provided. For more information or to register, visit the conference webpage.
