The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a board-registered professional certificate program in financial planning beginning this spring, Dr. James Lumpkin, College of Business and Technology dean, announced.

UT Tyler has partnered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. to provide this new financial planning professional certificate program for the East Texas working professional in mind.

Classes begin Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 and continue every other Saturday through Oct. 1, 2016 with no classes held in July. Estimated tuition cost is $4,450, plus $700 for books and materials. Deferred payment options as well as early registration scholarships are available. To apply, visit www.uttyler.edu/cbt/fabl/cfp/index.php. Registration deadline is Monday, Nov. 30.

“To minimize lost work time and reduce travel costs, about half the class meeting time is online, with the other half meeting face-to-face at the main UT Tyler campus,” said Dr. Roger Lirely, Department of Accounting, Finance and Business Law chair and program director. “There is also some scheduling flexibility, and students may take the course again the next time it is fully-enrolled and offered if they fail the CFP exam.”

Breakfast and lunch also will be provided on class meeting days, he added.

For additional information about the program, call Lirely, 903.565.5762.
