The University of Texas Tyler will celebrate community service and cultural awareness through its universitywide initiative, Impact Week, to begin Monday, Nov. 2.

UT Tyler Impact Week, which began last year, is co-sponsored by the Office of Leadership and Service and Global Awareness through Education Program. To kick-off the week, an information table will be set up Monday on the second floor of the University Center. Various on- and off-campus activities continue through Saturday, Nov. 7.

“The Office of Leadership and Service and GATE have partnered to create a week full of service and cultural events for UT Tyler students, faculty and staff,” said Chase Ragland, student development specialist and event co-coordinator. “Impact Week is a chance for students, faculty, staff and community partners to engage in activities and conversations about global issues through a local lens.”

“Throughout the week, there will also be tables set up in the UC where participants can learn more about specific issues such as hunger, homelessness and health care. At these tables, those interested may also participate in small projects that will benefit local non-profits,” Ragland added.

In addition, all Impact Week attendees will be automatically entered into prize drawings, he said.
