UT Tyler to Offer Project Lead the Way Summer Training

The University of Texas at Tyler will offer 50 Texas Project Lead The Way Summer Training courses for secondary school teachers, Dr. Michael Odell, vice president for research and technology transfer and Texas PLTW affiliate director, announced.
Hosted by the UT Tyler Ingenuity Center, the various training sessions begin Sunday, June 5 and conclude Friday, Aug. 19. Information about each session can be found on the Texas PLTW website, texaspltw.org under Core Training. Cost ranges from $700 – $2,450 depending on course length and content.
"This core training is an integral part of a three-phase professional development program that is offered during the summer on university campuses around the country," said Donna Wise, assistant affiliate director for Texas PLTW. "Each session provides a collaborative setting where teachers are immersed in content-specific, problem-based instruction that integrates science, mathematics, engineering and technology knowledge and skills."
Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization that provides transformative learning experiences for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S. Through pathways in computer science, engineering and biomedical science, students learn problem-solving strategies, critical and creative thinking and how to communicate and collaborate. PLTW is shaping the innovators, creators and designers of today and tomorrow.
