The University of Texas at Tyler will host its 2016 International Fest, Dr. Teresa Kennedy, assistant vice president for international programs and senior international officer, announced.

The public event will be 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 in the University Center Ballroom.

The UT Tyler Office of International Programs, along with the Global Patriots student organization and Indian Student Association, through the Student Government Association's support, have joined forces to host this event.

Students from all over the world will showcase their country at an informational booth. In addition, students who have studied abroad and faculty who have led international trips or conducted research abroad will also provide information about the countries they have visited. All participants will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite country display in the categories of 'Most Informative,' 'Most Creative,' 'Most Interactive,' 'Most Detailed' and 'Most Desired Place to Visit.'

Live entertainment will be provided by several UT Tyler student organizations and Sisters of the Dance, among others.

This year, there will also be a flag parade featuring the 51 countries and one territory represented on campus this semester. The parade will begin at the Braithwaite Gardens, continue around Harvey Lake and enter the UC through the Met Café. The parade will end in the UC Ballroom to start International Fest. Culturally diverse East Texas restaurants will serve food samples 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. during the event.
