The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Art and Art History is proud to announce "/fīv per・rǝ・lels/" – the second Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition for the spring 2017 semester.

"/fīv per・rǝ・lels/" opens Monday, April 3 at the Meadows Gallery, located in The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.

This group exhibition, in partial fulfillment of The University of Texas at Tyler bachelor of fine arts degree, features the work of five degree candidates: Rachel Anthony of Lindale, Kiana Buchanan of Lufkin, Lisa Rachel Horlander of Tyler, Coy A. Lothrop of Longview and Jessica Sanders of Hawkins.

A public reception with gallery talks is 6 p.m. Thursday, April 6 at the gallery. The show concludes Friday, April 14.

The Meadows Gallery is open 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.

Through the use of vibrant aluminum braids, Anthony's work focuses on the molecular construction found in the movement of light to evoke a sense of harmony.

Buchanan's work implicates past and present cultural issues involving African Americans, specifically dealing with police violence and racial tensions.

Horlander's paintings are informed by her experiences of observing the formal elements of nature to lead the viewer to share in a moment of transcendence and peace.

Lothrop's portraits address the power of human connections-connections made through seeing yourself in the expressions and features of others, and connections missed through a detached gaze and the behavioral phenomena resulting from the influence of contemporary, social media technologies.

Using ceramic installation, Sanders' work deals with time and how it is processed through experiences.
