The University of Texas at Tyler will host a public science lecture featuring Dr. Tyrone B. Hayes in recognition of Earth Day 2017, Dr. Srini Kambhampati, chair of the UT Tyler Department of Biology announced.
Presented by the UT Tyler Center for Environment, Biodiversity and Conservation, Hayes will speak 6-7 p.m. Saturday, April 22 in the UT Tyler University Center Theater. The lecture is open to the public at no charge.
"We are honored to have a scientist of Dr. Hayes' caliber to help us celebrate Earth Day. He brings a wealth of knowledge that is very pertinent in today's world," said Dr. Joshua Banta, assistant professor of biology and lecture coordinator.
Hayes, professor of integrative biology at the University of California – Berkeley, is well known for his work on how pollution creates health disparities in minority and low income communities and how it decimates frogs worldwide.
