The University of Texas at Tyler Meadows Gallery will feature the annual Juried Student Exhibition beginning Monday, April 24.

This year's juror is Barbara Frey, a professor of art who specializes in hand-built porcelain teapots. A public reception with juror's remarks and awards will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27.

The exhibition highlights 31 pieces from 24 separate University of Texas at Tyler student artists.

"All the artwork chosen for the Juried Student Exhibition was created by UT Tyler students within the last two semesters," said Michelle Taff, The University of Texas at Tyler gallery and media coordinator. "This annual exhibition, which is made up of artwork in many mediums and styles, is an occasion to showcase the talent of our students in the UT Tyler Art and Art History Department.

"This is a great opportunity for our students to have experience in applying to a juried exhibition and in learning gallery and professional exhibition standards," she added.

The exhibition concludes Friday, Aug. 11. Prize winners will be announced.

The Meadows Gallery is in The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment.
